I am\u00a0<strong>life skills<\/strong>\u00a0crucial for the development of young people, as they help them build positive relationships, resolve conflicts constructively and participate actively in the school community, which represents a key context for social learning and character formation. The use of interventions based on\u00a0<em>Serious Game<\/em>, like\u00a0<em>Pro Social Network<\/em>, offers an innovative approach to achieve these goals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">THE\u00a0<em>Serious Game<\/em>\u00a0combine entertainment elements with educational purposes, creating an experience of\u00a0<strong>Edutainment<\/strong>\u00a0immersive and engaging. The<em>Edutainment<\/em>\u00a0integrates educational content with entertainment to make learning enjoyable and effective. In psychology, the use of\u00a0<em>Serious Game<\/em>\u00a0has been shown to be effective for engaging students and improving social skills.<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/div><div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap lefting\"><div class=\"heading-text el-text\" ><h2 class=\"h2\" ><span>Goals<\/span><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column text-lead\" ><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Education on the conscious use of social media for the prevention of cyberbullying.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Promoting empathy and coping strategies for cyberbullying.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Counteracting the mechanisms of moral disengagement.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Improving pro-social skills in schools.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n<\/div><div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap lefting\"><div class=\"heading-text el-text\" ><h2 class=\"h2\" ><span>Development of <em>Pro Social Network<\/em><\/span><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column justifatio text-lead\" ><p>The system, based on the platform\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.webinbasket.com\/wib_webpage\/index_ita.html\"><strong>Web InBasket<\/strong><strong><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong><\/a>, represents an interface that allows users to interact with a\u00a0<em>storytelling<\/em>\u00a0through tree-structured decision-making moments. The system is designed to\u00a0<strong>evaluate the performance<\/strong>\u00a0based on some factors through decisions made by users, with a\u00a0<strong>preliminary score scale<\/strong>\u00a0associated with decision-making moments. The\u00a0<em>Web InBasket<\/em>\u00a0it&#039;s a\u00a0<strong>Simulation of instant messaging apps<\/strong>, with specific screens for the different stages of the game.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap lefting\"><div class=\"heading-text el-text\" ><h2 class=\"h2\" ><span><em>Storytelling<\/em><\/span><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column justifatio text-lead\" ><p><em>Pro Social Network<\/em>\u00a0allows participants to\u00a0<strong>experience scenarios associated with cyberbullying first-hand, in an immersive and interactive way<\/strong>. The game is accessible at a credential-protected URL, and exists in\u00a0<strong>two versions<\/strong>: the first, complete, contains the entire storytelling, while the second presents the different game chapters designed. The plot presents imaginary characters and environments programmed to respond specifically to the protagonist&#039;s choices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Interaction with the narrative<\/strong>: Users interact with virtual characters through avatars with simulated messages, which include situations that pre-teens might face online. In each situation, the decision moments proposed by the system translate into specific response options.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap lefting\"><div class=\"heading-text el-text\" ><h2 class=\"h2\" ><span><em>Intervention research design<\/em><\/span><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column justifatio text-lead\" ><p>The\u00a0<em>Serious Game<\/em>\u00a0is part of a\u00a0<strong>evidence-based intervention research<\/strong>\u00a0which includes a project presentation phase aimed at managers and teachers, a\u00a0<strong>ad hoc self-report questionnaire<\/strong>\u00a0for students, and\u00a0<strong>five intervention sessions<\/strong>\u00a0weekly, lasting one hour, in middle school classes.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap lefting\"><div class=\"heading-text el-text\" ><h2 class=\"h2\" ><span><em>International Expansion<\/em><\/span><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column justifatio text-lead\" ><p>In the context of the co-supervision of intervention research with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.laecovi.com\/\">Laboratory of Studies on Convivencia and Prevention of Violence (LAECOVI)<\/a>\u00a0from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uco.es\/educacion\/es\/inicio\">Faculty of Sciences of Education and Psychology<\/a>, led by the\u00a0<strong>Prof. Eva Mar\u00eda Romera F\u00e9lix<\/strong>, in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uco.es\/educacion\/es\/inicio\">University of Cordoba<\/a>,\u00a0<em>Pro Social Network<\/em>\u00a0It has been translated into Spanish and implemented in the\u00a0<em>Infant and primary education centres<\/em>\u00a0Spanish, as a cross-national replication and comparison work of the intervention research, in the period between spring and winter of 2023.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap lefting\"><div class=\"heading-text el-text\" ><h2 class=\"h2\" ><span><em>Impact and Future Prospects<\/em><\/span><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"uncode_text_column justifatio text-lead\" ><p>The project represents an example of an interdisciplinary approach to create innovative and effective educational tools. The collaboration between psychologists and computer engineers has allowed the development of a\u00a0<em>Serious Game<\/em>\u00a0which not only educates, but also involves and stimulates pre-adolescents, preparing them to navigate the digital world with awareness and competence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The feedback we have received from teachers and students has been extremely positive.
